Day 2

We started off our day by having breakfast at the Ramada Princess Hotel in Belize, City. We departed at 9:00 a.m. to Placencia where we would ring in the new year, and begin our first week of excursions. The ride from Belize City to Placencia was approximately three hours, but throughout our whole ride our shuttle driver talked about the Belizean scenery. Looking out the window we were amazed to see all the green scenery and amazing view Belize has to offer. In order to arrive to Placencia we drove through four different highways, but one that stood out the most was the “humming bird” highway for its name. We were told that it is named like this as it has many curves, and this is the way hummingbirds fly. Then, we came across the sleeping giant and the sleeping mayan which are formations that if looked at look similar to a mayan person. We arrived to Placencia and had lunch at Omar’s Restaurant, then unloaded and settled into our rooms at Serenade Hotel. We made our walk to Tutti Frutti which is a gelateria in Placencia which is AMAZING! All of us were delighted by the taste and it was a great dessert to cool off from such a hot day! We all returned to our rooms to get ready for dinner at a local hangout were people welcome in the year. The environment was great and all the people here are very nice. During dinner, we had the opportunity to talk about how chaotic 2018 was with school, nevertheless we remembered how a year ago we were complete strangers and now we have grown so close together. Each person on this trip has made an impact among each other and I do not think we could have welcomed 2019 a better way than surrounded with great people. THE BEST IS YET TO COME!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
